Every installation should be certified on completion for both the products used to BS476 Pt 22 and installed to BS 8214 2016. At Premier Fire Doors we oversee our independent installers so that every contract is tightly controlled, and we issue the completion certificate, so we stand any liability should anything go wrong with the installation.
The critical issue on installing is that the frame/lining must be adequately sealed and secured against the opening it is fitted within. The failure with newly installed doors and frames is usually where the fame meets the walls. Any ‘competent’ person will be aware of this and ensure it is installed to the appropriate standard.
Upon completion the certification should clearly state it meets both of the British Standards as above. All products and installation should carry a guarantee, usually the products carry a manufacturers guarantee.
Below you will find answers to commonly asked questions.

If they are unaware of this British Standard then our advice is to find an alternative installer.
